Accident
On a rainy, misty day in December of 1998 Joey, a 28 year old roofer
with two children, was driving home from his brother’s house after
a Christmas visit. Up ahead in the foggy distance, a county dump truck
was making an improper U-turn. Out of nowhere, the side of the truck
suddenly appeared in front of him. In an instant Joey’s life changed
forever. He slammed on the brakes as his car slid underneath the truck
at impact, trapping Joey in the wreck.

Bad Faith Insurance Claim
In the fall of 1995, Michael, a healthy, active fifteen year-old,
was riding in the back seat of a Jeep Wrangler. The driver lost control
on a curve and the vehicle plunged down an embankment, landing on
its side. Michael’s head was crushed upon impact with the rollbar

Product Liability - Fen-Phen
Rachel was a model in her late 30’s who wanted to lose weight. Her
doctor prescribed a new diet drug “cocktail?called Fen-Phen. Fen-Phen
is a combination of two drugs -- fenfluramine, an appetite
suppressant, and phentermine, a mild stimulant. When combined they
create a powerful diet drug.
After taking the drugs for --- months, she began experiencing
shortness of breath and fatigue after minor exertion. She went to her
doctor and, after numerous tests, discovered that she had Primary
Pulmonary Hypertension (PPH), a condition characterized by the
narrowing of the blood vessels of the lungs. This causes high blood
pressure, which can eventually lead to heart failure. Severe PPH may
require a heart-lung transplant. Unfortunately, in Rachel’s case, this
is exactly what happened?
Severely disabled, Rachel could not work and was housebound and in
need of constant care. She was desperate for financial help. Her bills
piled up and she was about to become homeless.
